Sh. Shakiel’s engaging teaching style and ability to make complex matters simple have drawn students to his courses for over a decade.
Born and raised in NYC, Sh. Shakiel understands the American-Muslim dynamics and delivers his courses in a context relevant to his students.
He’s an entrepreneur by profession and has graduated from Baruch College with a BBA in Business Administration.
He completed post-graduate studies at the Umm-ul-Qura University in Makkah al-Mukarramah receiving an Associate’s Degree with honors. He continued his studies at the College of Shariah at Umm-ul-Qura University.
In 2011, he founded the NYC Muslim Center, now the largest Islamic center in NYC.
Born and raised in NYC, Sh. Shakiel understands the American-Muslim dynamics and delivers his courses in a context relevant to his students.

Sh. Zakareeya loves to augment his courses with new research. Well-versed in classical literature and having memorized the Quran, he brings the heritage of Islam to students in the modern context.
Sh. Zakareeya loves to connect with his students while teaching and creates an interactive experience during his sessions.
He has graduated from the International Open University with Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Islamic Studies.
He currently serves as the Islamic Studies and Arabic Instructor at The Wellspring Schools and is a regular khateeb at the Jesus, son of Mary Mosque in NYC.
